Job description
We are seeking a DPO Baltics to join the IKEA Baltic organization. DPO Baltics plays a crucial role in ensuring IKEA Baltic’s compliance with data privacy regulations and safeguarding the privacy of individuals. You will be the fourth member of a dynamic team of IKEA Baltics lawyers, who work closely together as well as independently to meet the needs of IKEA Baltics.
DPO Baltics is responsible for developing and implementing data privacy policies, assessing data processing activities, and providing practical, business oriented legal advice on data privacy matters within IKEA Baltics companies located in Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia (pan-Baltic approach and way of working). This will include legal support to relevant regulatory daily business operations and new initiatives in IT /digital area and related services, as well as legal assistance in contracting, e-commerce by improving of key data privacy compliance processes and internal policies.
What you will be doing as a DPO Baltics:
- Provide high quality, efficient and practical legal advice to various internal stakeholders in data privacy and IT/digital area.
- Lead the implementation of statutory data protection rules and IKEA IConduct requirements into daily business operations within IKEA Baltics and report on implementation progress.
- Contribute to mitigating risks in data privacy and IT/digital legal questions.
- Serve as a contact point for Baltic regulatory authorities and individuals regarding data privacy issues.
- To further develop and continuously improve key data privacy compliance processes, including data mapping, records of processing, handling of data subjects’ rights, personal data breach management, privacy by design and DPIA, data processing, sharing agreements, and other contracts to ensure full compliance with the GDPR and other laws across the Baltic jurisdictions.
- Monitor legislative changes, case law developments, regulators’ guidelines and interpretations across the Baltics within data privacy and IT/digital area and initiate actions at IKEA Baltic organization to ensure continuous compliance.
- Regularly review and update the information of the records of the processing activities in privacy management tool.
- Perform periodically awareness raising and training sessions to IKEA Baltics internal stakeholders.
- Where needed, provide legal services and support in retail business contracts and daily operations.
At IKEA we will love you from the first day, but we will adore you if you have :
- Have a master’s degree in law and you worked at least three years’ as an Lawyer / in-house legal counsel on data protection and privacy legal issues.
- Having previous experience of acting as a data protection officer (DPO) will be an advantage.
- To have in-depth knowledge and keen demonstrated interest in data protection, privacy legal issues, cybersecurity, retail and e-commerce legal framework and policy matters.
- Have good analytical capability and pay attention to detail, at the same time you are pragmatic and have a good deal of common sense and business-mindedness.
- Have the ability to work as part of a team and build trustful relations with colleagues.
- Maintain perspective and resilience, able to prioritize and manage multiple projects in a dynamic, fast-paced retail environment.
- Have a down to earth attitude with values corresponding to the IKEA values.
- Communicate in a clear and simple way.
- Have experience working in diverse and international environments.
- Are fluent in English and Lithuanian (both spoken and written English and Lithuanian).
