What you will be doing as an Occupational Health and Safety Specialist

• Ensure a safe and healthy working environment for co-workers and customers through training, audits, implementation of standards, and compliance with national and local legal requirements;

• Support and coordinate the handling of emergency situations related to health and safety and ensure appropriate actions are taken;

• Investigate workplace accidents and incidents, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions and improvements to routines and processes;

• Implement and maintain occupational health and safety procedures, ensuring they are regularly reviewed and continuously improved;

• Proactively identify potential safety risks and support early involvement in new initiatives and projects within the unit;

• Support managers and co-workers in building a proactive safety culture through guidance, communication, and training;

• Monitor compliance with internal IKEA safety standards and local legislation and ensure that all necessary documentation and reporting are properly maintained.

• Practical experience in Occupational Health and Safety in a dynamic environment;

• Certification as an Occupational Health and Safety specialist or equivalent qualification, which requires a relevant higher education degree in accordance with Lithuanian legislation;

• Knowledge of Lithuanian legislation regarding safety and fire protection, and willingness to obtain required certifications if not yet held;

• Experience in conducting risk assessments, safety audits, and workplace inspections;

• Experience in emergency preparedness (fire drills, evacuation procedures, complex fire system testing) and incident follow-up;

• Ability to communicate clearly and confidently in English and Lithuanian (both written and verbal);

• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a structured way of working;

• Ability to act independently, prioritize tasks, and implement improvements effectively.

You should have knowledge in the following areas

• Occupational Health and Safety legislation and best practices;

• Occupational risk assessment procedures;

• Workplace accident/incident investigation;

• Auditing, reporting, administration, and compliance monitoring;

• Fire safety and emergency response;

• Workplace ergonomics and well-being;

• Training and awareness building in safety topics.
