About the job
Reporting to the Customer Relations Manager, this position supports the growth of IKEA Lithuania by providing dedicated Occupational Health and Safety expertise. The role ensures compliance with internal and external standards, contributes to maintaining a safe working environment, and helps strengthen a proactive safety culture across the organization. You will work closely with various departments and management levels, acting as a professional advisor and operational partner in all Occupational Health and Safety related matters.
What you will be doing as an Occupational Health and Safety Specialist
Ensure a safe and healthy working environment for co-workers and customers through training, audits, implementation of standards, and compliance with national and local legal requirements;
Support and coordinate the handling of emergency situations related to health and safety and ensure appropriate actions are taken;
Investigate workplace accidents and incidents, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions and improvements to routines and processes;
Implement and maintain occupational health and safety procedures, ensuring they are regularly reviewed and continuously improved;
Proactively identify potential safety risks and support early involvement in new initiatives and projects within the unit;
Support managers and co-workers in building a proactive safety culture through guidance, communication, and training;
Monitor compliance with internal IKEA safety standards and local legislation and ensure that all necessary documentation and reporting are properly maintained.

Practical experience in Occupational Health and Safety in a dynamic environment;
Certification as an Occupational Health and Safety specialist or equivalent qualification, which requires a relevant higher education degree in accordance with Lithuanian legislation;
Knowledge of Lithuanian legislation regarding safety and fire protection, and willingness to obtain required certifications if not yet held;
Experience in conducting risk assessments, safety audits, and workplace inspections;
Experience in emergency preparedness (fire drills, evacuation procedures, complex fire system testing) and incident follow-up;
Ability to communicate clearly and confidently in English and Lithuanian (both written and verbal);
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a structured way of working;
Ability to act independently, prioritize tasks, and implement improvements effectively.
You should have knowledge in the following areas
Occupational Health and Safety legislation and best practices;
Occupational risk assessment procedures;
Workplace accident/incident investigation;
Auditing, reporting, administration, and compliance monitoring;
Fire safety and emergency response;
Workplace ergonomics and well-being;
Training and awareness building in safety topics.
